Maple sounds similar to ebony so I would say if it works with your SG with baked maple board, will work with ebony as well.

Is your BD set really percussive with loads of snap?

I pressume after height adjusment it`s not too bright, is it?

Yes it's quite percurssive. I think you will be good with the ebony board.

It became much more balanced after the height adjustment. It's naturaly a bright pickup, but not very much. I'm using 550K CTS volume pots and it's very sentitive, I can easily control the "brightness" to my taste. For the tone I'm using CTS 500K push-pull pots, so I can turn each pickup into single coil. It also plays beautiful this way.

Some time ago I`ve exchanged few emails with Ben from BKP about BD and apparently BD is even little bit brighter than Rebel Yell, which is considered as a bright pickup.

Is that truth that BD set contains both, great soloing pickups which excel in leads?

I don't know the Rebel Yell, but the BD is great also for solos. A bit bright as I said before, but you can control the tone on the volume pot. If you are going to play 70's to 80's rock like Zeppelin, Sabbath and AC/DC, you will like it.
