HSP90 neck pickup to match a A-bomb bridge pickup?
« on: December 25, 2014, 11:16:28 AM »
How did I not see this until now? I've been GAS'ing for P90's forever, regretting that I can't afford a guitar with P90's in it, and then I discover that Bare Knuckle has them?! I must've been sleeping...

I have an ESP LTD Deluxe MH-1000 with an Alnico Nailbomb set in it, but I don't really like the way the neck pickup sound with drive - it's a bit on the weak side,  not really pushing enough. I do like it's warmth though. If I want to exchange the neck Nailbomb for a HSP90 with the same kind of warmth, classic P90 neck tones and still matching the A-bomb bridge pickup, which pickup would match it best?

I'm thinking Mississippi Queen or Supermassive?

Thanks!

I would go for the Supermassive.  I think the more modern sound of that pickup would be a good match for the Nailbomb bridge, and it's not as hot as the Stockholm neck (although I was recommended the Stockholm neck by Ben BKP to match an A-Bomb I think a Supermassive is the more conservative option outputwise while retaining the same basic character).
