Where to get decent metric size pots?
« on: December 27, 2014, 03:14:07 PM »
Hello chaps, first off i wanna say sorry if this has been already covered, as i have used the search function and couldn't find anything. I have a '88 Jackson Dinky with an awesome lightning bolt graphic that i would rather not have to mod to a bigger hole for a cts sized pot, just 1 volume knob no tone knob . I was just wondering if any of you knew where to get some decent metric sized pots, if there is such a thing  :undecided: Thanks and hope you all have a happy new year!!

Some of the alpha pots are actually ok and they have a smaller size - maybe WD Music may be a good source.
Long term have someone skilled with a SHARP tapered reamer like a violin peg  reamer would be a good move as you'll have way more choice and if the job is done right , the finish will be safe.

Thinks Feline for the info! I think I'm going to grab an alpha pot for the time being. Eventually i will ream or file out the hole myself to fit the cts pot. I have done this before with no ill effects to a guitar, this was on an Ibby RG8, so I know I can do it properly    I just need to get my courage up to do this on my USA Jackson haha

Agent Orange here is my best explanation for ya, if ya have any other questions about her shoot away  ,, its a 1988 when jackson was still just a smaller custom shop. Many of these late 80's guitars have metric size pots and had funky wiring being used believe it or not.
All of the newer jackson usa are going to have the cts size pots...
Another instance that is different, is mine has the jackson licensed floyd instead of an actual floyd rose. They had an option for the Floyd for an upcharge. Where as now on the newer models if you get a usa you are going to get a floyd stock.
As jackson got bigger as a company these options started becoming standard on their usa models,, such as your floyds and cts pots ect..
