Hi!

I recently got a 1987 Ibanez RG560: basswood body, bolt on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, tuned down to C standar with very thick string gauge (0.14-0.68).

As soon as I got the guitar, I removed the original PU and put in a DiMarzio ToneZone. This DiMarzio provides the thick sound that I like, but the highs and string separation on chords doesn't suit my tastes, playing a mixture of melodic doom/death metal, and I'm wondering which BKP could do this job:  thick sound on basswood but with good highs. C-Bomb, Black Hawks, Juggernaut?

I tested a C-Pig on another RG570 I had months ago and didn't like it, so Warpig is not an option.

Thanks, folks

You may like the Juggernauts.   Then again, hard to say.  They have this really organic feel to them.  They are thick sounding but they're also extremely tight and articulate, and in spite of a mountain of mid power, they have this 'hollow mid' characteristic to their tone.  I hear the C Pig and A Pig are also tight, thick, and articulate.  Hmmm, can't lose anything by trying though.

IŽd put the Holydiver down as too old school in character for you situation. I think you need the more modern agression of either the Juggernaut or the C-bomb. Both are known to do well in those woods and guitar and style too. The Cbomb would be more 90s style agressive while the juggernaut would be fuller and more post 90s sound. They are of course both pretty versatile, but those terms describe the basic character. Cbomb is really Roots Sepultura in basic character, while the Juggernaut is less all out and more focused.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

CBomb in basswood tuned to C standard? Hmmmm...dont know.  If it would be warmer mahogany body, I would say definitely avoid Cbomb especially for more technical precise riffing! I wouldn`t recommend it at all. For couple of songs with my band I down tune my mahogany LP style Dean Caddy to drop C sharp and CBomb cannot keep up with that, looses definition and little gets lost int the mix.

in your case, basswood while being more neutral might help anyway.
