I usually stay tuned half after step down.
Do you mean C# standard?
I've used a Stockholm and an A-Bomb (alnico Nailbomb) to go effect in D standard. My band is '80s style d-beat punk (Discharge, Mob 47, etc) but I think the basic tonality you would need is similar. I play a lot faster than either of those two tracks and the pickups stay clear and tight sounding in that tuning.
Tele I would go for the Piledriver or put a humbucker style Tele bridge plate in it, route it, and fit one of the two pickups just mentioned.
The only pickup I've fitted to a Tele is a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound, to the guitar owned by our other guitarist. Changed the character of that guitar completely. Sounds insane now, tonnes of output. I would go for the biggest output Tele pickup in the BKP range (Piledriver) based on that experience. It will probably be less compressed and clearer sounding than the SD QP. I wired that thing straight to the jack. Go for 500K pots and wire in a 'blower switch' that bypasses everything and just gives you bridge pickup straight to the jack if you can manage it. Should be a wiring diagram on the web somewhere.
You could also look at the Painkiller for a humbucker.
EDIT: You should also wait for littleredguitars2 's opinion. He is the forum pop punk guy and has had happy times with the Piledriver and Stockholm

The two guitars on it are my SG Junior with the Stockholm P-90 (which you can see in my avatar) and the Telecaster with the SD Quarter Pound in it. I am playing through a Peavey 6534+ and the Tele is going through a Mesa Recto combo
