Pickup suggestions for Caparison TAT II
« on: February 04, 2015, 08:29:12 PM »
Hi everyone!
I need pickup suggestions for my Caparison TAT II. It is maple neck-through, alder wings, ebony board. The tuning is D standard, 10-52 strings.

It has Ceramic Warpig in the bridge and Air Norton in the neck now. I've tried Alnico Warpig in bridge and neck - didn't liked how it sounded at all.

I really like how CWarpig sounds in it!! I like huge, massive sound which sits will in the mix and doesn't get harsh, but isn't muddy also.
So, the first question is:

1. Will it be wise to replace CWarpig with Juggernaut ? Will Juggernaut sound even more fat and juicy than CWarpig ?

Now about the neck pickup. I want sound which isn't thin (for soloing) and has maximum attack. Think of Malmsteen sound when he uses neck pickup.

2. I'm looking at Juggernaut neck, Aftermath neck and Nailbomb neck - which one of these will give me the sound I want and be a good pair for CWaprig in the bridge ?

Thanks!

why replacing the c-pig?
I doubt the juggernaut would sound fatter than a c-pig
but if you want a more focused tone than the pig, but similar output and aggression, the c-bomb should do it

I'd bet on the painkiller for the neck
