s1 switching... help!
« on: February 13, 2015, 11:15:07 AM »
Hey can anyone help me? I wanna fit a S1 pull switch to my custom build. It has an Irish Tour set in it and I want to add in S1 switching.

It has a 5 position switch like a strat and 1 master volume and 1 master tone. 250k I think.

Do they make an S1 switch that pulls up rather than push push?

I'm in the UK so any links would help, Thanks!

Also is there any disadvantage to doing this? My middle pickup is RWRP.

S1 is a Fender version of a push-push where the centre of the knob moves, if I remember correctly.  I don't see why you couldn't replace it with a push-pull (e.g., CTS) as long as the shaft type and pot value are correct for your guitar.  It just switches between parallel and series connections between your pickups.  If I remember correctly (from what I know of Jazz basses with S1) the neck becomes the master when this switch is engaged.
