Can't decide from audio clips
« on: February 16, 2015, 09:45:01 PM »
Hi

I have a custom build underway and this guitar is geared towards modern metal as I have everything else covered by my other guitars

I was thinking of warpig set based on the audio but I have also been hearing good recommendations about black hawk and juggernaut for the same style of modern metal

Has anyone who has heard these live got any advice?

Regards

What roles do you play in a band?  Are you primarily a lead player?  Rhythm player?  Do you require cleans?

The thing that I like about the Juggernauts is that they excel at rhythm, lead, solo, and clean tones, which makes them very useful for someone who needs a guitar that can cover a lot of ground.

Hi

Mostly lead so some soloing

I do use cleans but not much and when I do it's usually the whole song so I play it on a hollow body

Thanks for the advice

Are you planning on playing drop tuned stuff?  Are we talking a 7 string here?

The Juggernaut set has a great feel and it has this organic feel to it.  It's not just sheer balls to the wall although it is quite aggressive nonetheless.  It also doesn't get thin or ice picky higher up the neck and it will also handle drop tuning extremely well.  I guess it depends what sort of thing you're after.  I'm sure there are other BKP that are even more aggressive.  My friend's 7 string has a painkiller in the bridge and it's more of a straight ahead aggressive pickup but it works very well in dark sounding instruments whereas the Juggernaut is more at home in bright instruments.

I can't comment on the Warpig or the Blackhawk since I have not tried them, but I'm sure they are also fantastic sounding pickups.  I guess it depends what you need.

You probably need to tell us more about the wood and construction you will use.

In terms of style I guess that depends in part on your taste too.  Did you like the Painkiller and Nailbomb clips?
