Also another review saying it has that sort of double/triple tracked sound from it, kind of like Trivium. That sold it for me haha.
Trivium? Never heard that kind of opinion. Interesting.

Anyway, I`m really looking forward to read your review as well as can you make a detailed comparison between HD and BD once you`ll get them installed? cheers!

Well I'm happy to say I've just placed the order for 3 new pickups :)

To start off, I've just ordered the Holy Diver/Emerald combo for my ESP Eclipse Full Thickness.

Secondly, I've order a Black Dog to replace the Riff Raff bridge in my other Eclipse Full Thickness for the Black Dog/Mule combo :)

Looking forward to it :P

Good choice, man.  That combo is solid.  I've thought about trying a VHII in the neck in place of the Emerald, but the latter is sweet enough each time I play it live that I've not wanted to mess it up, lol.

The Holy Diver kicks total ass, and the tonal difference between the two of them makes for an extremely diverse ax.

definitely can do that with a booster
the dog has a very pronounced "half c--ked wah" midrange response and that helps with the heavy fast riffs/shredding approach Trivium used to do
would work great for Sylosis too
in my experience from, the dog had a smoother top and more articulate mids, while the diver was slightly treblier, but more compressed in the mids
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Would you say it's sort of like the Schenker tone, when you say the half c--ked wah?

Eric Hellstyle, so you have to have a booster to play heavier stuff with Black Dog?

I mean things like Metallica, Tool, Killswitch Engaged ect? It wouldn`t be the first pickup for that kind of music, I know, but assuming that I would like to play heavier stuff, fast staccato riffing, some shred ect. Would BD without booster cope with it and would it be tight enough?

cheers,

It would depend on the guitar and the amp and how generous these are with the low end. A booster is a great addition to the BD though for metal.
