What can the aftermath do?

So I know the aftermath is extremely well suited to extreme metal styles and 'djent' but does any one think it's particilarly good for any other styles of music?

I've nevergot my hands on an aftermath bridge.  Now i've got a better laptop I can hear it has a very distinct sound which I find interesting but I wonder how it would sound for less obvious genres.....

I'm guessing it would be great for a lot of hardcore stuff.

Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, all of that stuff I think it would do well.  I've heard some clips online in which it is more versatile than you might expect.  It does have a certain dryness and honk though that make it unsuitable for many styles.  It is an aggressive pickup.  If you wouldn't use a Painkiller for that application I would steer clear of the Aftermath too.  They are not the same but they are equally aggressive IMHO

In the right setup you can even take the bridge to pop punk terrerory. At least I managed to. Though the Stockholm now does that better in that guitar for me.

Actual death metal, although those players don't typically go that route. The alternative to EMG 81's, which quintessentially THE death metal pickup.

I've always had the impression it does what it does really well but if you want any kind of versatility, you're better looking elsewhere.

I understand it was conceived as a death metal pickup for sure.

I'm sure i've heard of people use it for rock/light metal but I could be wrong.....

In any case i've considered lots of different pups and guitars recently.  Going to eat my self to an SG soon and probably still some juggs in.

Drop C or lower. Also, in dark dark sounding guitars.

Aftermath can sound thin in the wrong guitar.

But if you are drop tuning and want great clarity for serious metal styles, its great.
