Any Thoughts
« on: April 14, 2015, 08:07:22 PM »
Bonjour fellow BKP ers ,at the moment I have a set of Mules in my PRS SE Bernie Marsden. Now how does this combo sound I fancy something else for  now I have looked at the Mississippi Queen and seeing as it would just go straight into the guitar I was thinking of this in the bridge and leaving the Mule neck in as the neck pup has quite a nice sound to it. Any thoughts on this.
Cheers

What are you missing in the Mule-bridge, Keith? And what is your amp and the sound you're after? I like the MQ, but before recommend something I think we need a bit information.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Not missing much really just fancying a change. Dual Terror going through Zilla 2x12 with vintage 30's.Still doing classic rock thing,Bit of Blackberry Smoke. Im thinking the MQ might will be a fatter sound with it being Humbucker size?? but still having a nice biting tone p90's are known for for leads. I could br totally wrong there mind you!
cheers

The MQ certainly will do those styles. A P90 can do a lot, but it's really good for rock, classic rock and hardrock. There's a good chance the MQ will overpower the neck-Mule, but there are probably forummembers who have this combo. I hope they chime in.

Cheers bro to be quite honest I dont use the neck much, but the Mule has a nice 'creamy' sound for the want of a better word since I tweaked it a bit. So I thought it sounds ok I would just go for one pickup instead of a set,I can always add a MQ neck pup later. Well it looks like an MQ in Brushed Nickel I think, that will go nicely with the Brushed Nickel 10th anniversaries I have in my Les Paul Standard.

I think the combo can work and not be totally out of balance. There will be a drop, but nothing totally out of bounds. The MQ has power but is not that much of a monster.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid
