I've been contemplating for the last 2 months what to with my 2 Horizons. Well I sold one, and kept the other. I almost very nearly bought a Miracle Man today, but after a short, but sweet, convo with Jon from Feline, I changed to the Warpigs last minute. I'm due back 4 of my guitars that have been fitted with BKPs next week, but I'll definitely post this guitar once it's been fitted also.

The reason I decided against the Miracle Man was that every clip I heard, it had something too the sound that made it sound too perfect. It sounded tight, and it sounded very top end focused. This is just using my own ears though. I wanted something along the same lines, but fatter, with a slightly tamer top end, but still with presence. And I learn the Warpig uses the same 45 wire as the Miracle Man, but just uses more of it. I look forward to this pickup the most!

I'm currently waiting to get my other 4 guitars back which are a Music Man JP XI with Juggernauts; 2x Full Thickness Eclipses, one with a Black Dog/Mule combo, and the other Black Hawks; and a standard Floyd equipped Eclipse with a Holy Diver/Emerald combo. Reviews definitely soon for these. I'll initially write the Honeymoon period review, and update weekly as I learn more about the pickups, and how they all compare :)

That is a minor fortune on BKP and guitars.

Interested in the comparison between the Warpig and Juggset. Or maybe a lack of one :)
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus

Well I'll be able to compare to the Holy Diver, but unfortunately haven't played the Miracle Man. And bear in mind the Holy Diver will be in a thin, mahogany guitar. But I'll try and do each review independent and try to record samples of many different styles. So should be quite in depth :)

I always kinda fancied the Warpig but I never got it because I was afraid it would be too much at the low end and I really like plenty mids, hence my favourite two would be the Holydiver and Crawler. I liked the Miracle Man because although it's scooped, it actually has some strong low mids and I always wondered if an A-Pig would be a bit like a darker, fatter Holydiver or Crawler.

Well apparently the Warpig has become one of those pickups that people who have never played, shy away from thinking it will be boomy. My mate who has played the SD Invader, and the A-Pig, says the Invader is bassier...but people still have it in Mahogany guitars. I really wanted something weighty for leads, and the top end of the Miracle Man just over did it for me when played clips. And again it sounded too polished. So I learned that the Warpig is basically an overwound Miracle Man (as they both use 45 AWG wire), and you tend to find when you overwind a pickup, the bass gets more, and the top end becomes more controlled. But again, the Warpig has a double row of bolts, so this probably controls that bottom end. But I guess time will tell. :)

So I learned that the Warpig is basically an overwound Miracle Man (as they both use 45 AWG wire)

not really
they do have the same wire gauge and insulation, but the miracle man has asymmetrically wound coils, while the warpig has twin coils
that makes a big difference even with they both had the same total DC resistance reading
for example, the crawler and the alnico nailbomb have almost the same specs and materials and they sound completely different, cause the nailbomb has unmatched coils

in my experience, at least the alnico warpig sounds nothing like the miracle man
it has a bit of the holy diver, but has a flatter response instead of pokey mids
it doesn't have a lot more output, but has a more grinding character
definitely more bass, but a quite balanced voicing, so it actually has a lot of everything and not a bassy/dark voicing as some might think

the miracle man does sound very polished as you stated
it's like a civilized ceramic nailbomb

Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

The A-Bomb/Crawler comparison is a good one because it really highlights just how much of a difference offsetting can make. I wasn't at all struck on the A-Bomb yet the Crawler is probably my favourite BKP bridge pickup. Small things can make a big difference.
