Midrange Fest?

I'm now becoming concerned that I've chosen the wrong pickup in light of my unintended NAD, as illustrated in that thread.

This Budda has an abundance of lovely midrange, and now that the Crawler is almost at my doorstep, I'm worried that it will be too much in this Mahogany bolt-on.  Thoughts?

Turn the mids down. Crawler works on my Rockerverb, which has quite some mids too.

See which kind of mids they are first. The Crawler has a certain growl that can work well with midrangy amps if they are midrangy in a different way.

I have a Rio Grande BBQ in the bridge of my PRS Singlecut and am quite happy with it.
This pickup has a lot of midrange, some compare it to Crawler. Personally I have never heard the Crawler........
It does tend to get a little Barky.........but I kinda like that.........
But to be honest, you can plug in a almost anything into the budda and it will sound awesome...........
I've tried a lot, JBs, Custom, Holy Diver, PRS #7, Dimarzio 36th, BBQ etc. and they all sounded good, some more my taste then others, but the amp just makes everything sound nice!!
So far the ones I like best are the HD, Dimarzio 36th and the BBQ.
Thinking about getting either a A-Bomb or a Suhr Doug Aldrich set for my Tokai LP Goldtop

Mid range is one thing, mid range definition is what it's really about.

I love middy pickups, middy guitars, middy wah pedals, middy overdrive pedals, mid boosters, middy amps, middy settings, middy power tubes, middy speakers, middy microphones

Agreed. Every pickup I've liked has had mids in some way and the more mids, the more I seem to like them. My new Orange amp and cab seems to push the upper mids (probably the V30 speaker) and I love the way it cuts through the mix. My EQ pedals boost mids too so for me, mids are where it's happening.

The crawler has an abundance of fat low mids. Put through my Cornford which also has lots of fat low mids and it was too much. I now have a WCR Murkat which has a load of high mids and its as crunchy and punchy as you could ever want.

It's all part of the jigsaw!
