MQ humbucker sized P90 NECK any thoughts?
« on: June 03, 2015, 10:27:55 AM »
Hi, is there anyone who would share any experience with Mississipi Queen neck?
How does this pickup behave under heavier distortion and how does it cope with leads especially?

Cheers

I have one in an all mahogany LP and I love it. Such a good neck pickup. I used it in this track for all the lead bits along with the bridge pig 90 (volume rolled down a bit) - https://soundcloud.com/tom_the_beast/160311-2

I have one too and I hate that I donīt currently have a guitar to put it in. Pains me. As soon as I get a LP...
The MQ neck can certainly handle gain and loves the guitars controlls. You can have a massive agressive scream or sweet fluid singing within those. Has the sparkle, attack, and definition we like in SC necks, but also the fullness, power, and smoothness from a HB neck. Bloody great one.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

From what I've read it's great with leads. What guitar would you put it in?
