piledrivers in mahogany?
« on: June 12, 2015, 12:31:51 AM »
long story short. love the piledrivers. but i want to switch the body to something else and a mahogany body with a zebra wood top struck my fancy. but i wasnt originally thinking of going that route. was thinking swamp ash. thoughts?

also. forgot to mention its chambered

screw it. i went for it. the body was too nice and the deal was great. over $200 off. and i really didnt want to lose out on this one. check her out.

and if i dont like how the piledrivers are sounding in it, maybe i'll switch to something else but i think it'll be okay since it the mahogany is chambered and rather lightweight and the zebra wood is said to react similar to maple for its hardness so it should add a bit of brightness to the mix to even it out. either way i expect itll feel a bit more resonant than my solid block of alder in the old body. the best part though are the contoured heel, forearm and tummy. so it'll be much more comfortable to play.

Haha!  I recognize that guitar from the unofficialwarmoth board.  Congrats, man.

My second warmoth was a strat body in mahogany with a zebra top.  Was a heavy beast, but sounded amazing.  You will, no doubt, love this one.

great! yeah i'm pretty new to the warmoth forum but i figured it would serve me well to ask around. this body was under 5 lbs. the body i'm using now is a brick. but a very tonal brick at least.
