Advice on a Wolfgang pick up mod
« on: June 24, 2015, 10:54:19 AM »
Hi guys, new to the forum, how are you all?

Been a user of BKP for a while, got a Nailbomb in my Gibson SG and a Piledriver set in my Tele. Got the Wolfgang a few months ago and whilst I believe the pickups sound okay, it wasn't until a band rehearsal when I put down the BKP equipped Tele and plugged in the Wolfie that I realised how weak and lifeless the pickups sounded. So now I am thinking of changing them.

I spoke to Tim via email regarding possibly putting a HSP90 in the neck and HB in the bridge and he suggested either a Rebel Yell/Mississippi Queen combo or a Nailbomb/Pig 90 combo.

I play hard rock music mostly, bordering on metal at times.

I questionned maybe getting a Black Hawk and he suggested that the Stockholm or Supermassive would compliment that.

Now I'm basically open to any ideas and just wondering what any of you might have had success with mixing and matching pickups or whether I should just stick with a calibrated set. I just thought putting a P90 in would give the guitar something different and give me more options on the guitar front at gigs.

It's made of basswood and has a maple neck.

Would rather give something other than a Nailbomb a try but read through some other threads and they tend to be favourite for basswood?

Cheers guys.

I would have thought a Miracle Man / Stockholm combo might be the ticket with a Maple neck and basswood body for those styles.  Miracle Man works well with maple and middy woods by all accounts.  Stockholm would be about the right output to match up with the MM

I'm not sure though.  I'm curious as to what others say
BLACK HAWKS
IMPULSES
COBRA-T
WAR PIGS
STOCKHOLM
COLD SWEATS
MIRACLE MAN
TRUE GRIT
