Mules...How are you wiring them?
« on: June 27, 2015, 02:21:56 PM »
Hello all, First time poster here.  I have a set of mules (unpotted, covered, 2 con.) in my LP tradirional that are simply awesome.  I have gone back and forth a few different times with the wiring and have found advantages and disadvantages to both styles.  I was wondering how you all like to wire these specific pickups?  My findings are that the mules are very balanced in general but do have an assertive high end that isnt really harsh.  With modern wiring i like how the tone controls work and how the treble is tamed just a touch, but i do like the way the 50s wiring makes the tone feel more open and the volume taper is nicer.  The openness im hearing could just be the extra chime i get from the 50s though.  I'm currently using modern wiring with Russian K40Y-9 caps
