Sg and some Aggressive Sounds..
« on: July 19, 2015, 01:21:35 PM »
Hi guys!
I have about 10 years a magnificent Sg riding a couple of Voodoo '59,paper caps oil and steel studs on the bridge .
I'm very happy because it sounds very rich and full-bodied , but ..
I'm thinking of making it a much more aggressive guitar , the sound references are : Black Sabbath , Converge , Cult of Luna , Yob ...

I can not figure out which set mounton this guitar .. i really love the swirling harmonic on the high strings but I want in the same time  big bass and aggressive tone  now ..

some idea ??

Cheerz !

Ultimate aggression would be the Warpig, but the Nailbomb would be a tad more flexible.
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus

As the A-Bomb is probably the most aggressive pickup I've tried, I'd say either an A-Bomb or C-Bomb depending on how versatile you need it.
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

I'd avoid the A-Bomb in favour of a C-Bomb or Painkiller.  I've tried the A-Bomb and in my SG it was too abrasive.  It would be a roll of the dice as to what it is like in yours.  I have the A-Pig in one of my SGs and it is brilliant.  Just right.  In fact for the stuff you want to play I suspect it would be the best.

I am keen to try the Miracle Man too in my SG Standard, and swap out the Cold Sweat for a bit.  Will have to wait until I have $200 to spend on a pickup though

The only video I really have of me playing it is this one, it's very short and the room is kind of echoey, but ...
