A-bomb vs C-Bomb
« on: August 05, 2015, 04:05:59 PM »
Hi guys ,

I've been playing alnico nailbom for like 4+ years now replace almost all my guitar with alnico nailbomb.
I normally tuned to drop b i find that in drop B the guitar is abit muddy but the problem solved when i increase the tightness control on my pedal. I'm just wondering does the Ceramic nailbomb have more clarity than the A-bomb in low tuning? Does the Ceramic nailbomb have that "mids thing" like the alnico nailbomb or is it very scooped?

Would like to hear some of your opinions and experience with them.

thanks

Hey mate,

I have one of each magnet in both my Les Paul's, one is in drop c tuning (ceramic) and one flits between standard/drop d/c#/c (alnico).

The differences I notice is the alnico is very thuddy and bass heavy, with lots of punch. The ceramic is more mid range focused and cos I'm in a lower tuning it works well in my mahogany guitar. For drop B maybe go ceramic?

What guitar have you got?

I personally liked the ceramic version a lot better, but I had the impression that it's more compressed than the alnico version
but no, it's not a scooped sounding pup
it's very well balanced, actually
had both in the same guitar (1973 lp custom in my avatar)

maybe you need something more crispy like the aftermath or painkiller

I got a lespaul with A-Bomb in bridge , a schecter with a-bomb in bridge and a V with a-bomb in bridge  all are mahogany guitars

Which one is the one you play in drop b? Maybe put a ceramic one in that one?

Also amps and pedals can have an effect on the sound too.

All of them is in Drop B. do you find c-bomb have the save characteristic as the a-bomb but tighter?

Yeah, you could say that, the alnico one tends to be more thuddy in a way, the bass is tighter on the ceramic one.
