Ceramic Black Hawk vs X2N... Help!
« on: September 02, 2015, 09:24:29 PM »
Hey
I Wonder how does a C-Hawk compares to a  Dimarzio X2N (Ouptut level, overall sound, sustain and harmonics.....)
I'm really diggin' the C-Hawk for what I've read and heard on the internet... I also like the X2N but don't like the cleans, had to make lots of changes in my preamp/amp settings for achieving
the tone I like.. I mean.. I thought it would be a treble beast with lots of ouput... It DOES have high ouput buuuut it's a bass/mid monster ! (Its on a full mahogany guitar, rosewood fretboard)

So.. In terms of EQ and Output (and all the other things you could tell me 'bout)

How does it compare to a Ceramic Black Hawk?

Thanks

If you're going for all out shred your face of metal  just get the ceramic black hawk and don't look back.  It's the most brutal pickup going...a lot better than any active.  As far as i'm concerned the only thing actives have over the black hawk/passives in general is the noise reduction especially the Duncan Blackouts but the black hawks sound a lot better.

The black hawks are fairly high in output but have a lot of compression going on whilst still sounding super clean.  A completely unique pickup.  Just get them
