Pickup for mahogany guitar

Hi, everyone.

What bridge humbucker would you recommend for :

mahogany body and set neck
Rosewood fretboard
24 frets
string trough body

I want something:
-tight
-a liitle compression
-very dynamic, and responsive
- a bit more modern than classic, but versatile
- and something hot, with gain

It still depends on the body type, but my initial thought would be Rebel Yell. Made for mahahony LPs, ticking all the rest of the boxes. For rock, hard rock, 80s metal, and up to modern metal it sure works. Even if your guitar is not as thick as a LP the neck through should add some extra (and extended) bottom end, which the RY likes.

More info as to what sound or style would help, but the RY is a starting point to look at.

My first reaction was the Cold Sweat but I think the Rebel Yell would also work.  Just depends on what you want.  Mids vs bottom

Hi..my recommendation is the Cbomb...I have an old BC Rich super strat with the same wood combo and the Cbomb is awesome in it..covers it all with use of the volume knob to control the sound..for nicer cleans you could also try the A bomb..

It's not a neck-though, it's a set neck.  It just has the strings through the body rather than through a tailpiece.  TBH I'm not sure how that affects sound.  The RY does prefer a bassier guitar, by reputation.  The Emerald has the same issue, I can say that from experience.  Looks like my friend with the Emerald is very keen to swap it for the A-Bomb in my Explorer.  The Emerald just doesn't provide enough 'push' in a chambered Les Paul Studio.  The Emerald and Rebel Yell also have a clear preference for big amps with plenty of gain on tap.

Sounds like you're describing the RY particularly if your guitar tends towards the dark side. The RY is a perfect cross between old and new sounds and is a LOT of fun.

I used to have a C-bomb in an Ibanez RG2020x with mahogany body and maple neck. Really awesome tones, it was tuned to D standard and it handled it perfectly, much better than the Cold Sweat which is really something to concider if you like to detune your guitar.

The Rebel Yell is an awesome pickup as well, very nice in a Les Paul but it sounds very aggressive, not a very versatile pickup in my opinion. It actually sounds more aggressive than the C-bomb, which I found quite versatile actually. One thing that really surprised about the Rebel Yell is how tight it is! Maybe not surgically tight like a Painkiller or an Aftermath, but not far from it. I always tend to go for ceramic pickups, but I do not miss anything in the Rebel Yell.

The RY has quite a lot of mids, much like the A-Bomb. If you had chosen the alnico magnet for your Nailbomb you might have found that too aggressive

Depending on how modern you mean, this could either be a Miracle Man (late '80s sound) or Black Hawk (more contemporary, more mids).
