If this guitar turns out to be scooped and you want a really bloody dry, surgical sound the Aftermath can work. Otherwise the Painkiller is a saver choice. That is if the guitar is not super bright, but rather balanced or dark. If it were bright the Juggernaut would be the better choice.

The Aftermath neck is a great choice either way, such an overlooked pickup.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Sounds good but hard to say without knowing how it sounds or what you're going for.
If you're looking at the painkiller and aftermath i'd definitely consider the Juggeranut set too.

Black Limba body
Oregon Myrtle top
5 piece Indian Rosewood - Purple heart neck
Indian Rosewood fretboard

def using the AM neck for sure,  jugg is too phat for my taste

i already have the juggs in another guitar and id like something with a little more bite and not such a low mid focus.

black limba is very balanced with balanced highs and lows and a very pronounced mid range as is so would the PK be too much?

i hear that the AM is Dry but i guess you mean the lack there of fluid depth?

alot of BPK's are to suite wood types and guitars that lack certain characteristics. im looking for something that is well balanced with a mid punch so the PK?  blackhawks?

Miss you Dime.

I am guessing the PK is a good choice then from what you are describing. Should work well with the neck woods especially, which have a big influence on the tone.

It is hard to describe the Aftermath, but it is a very particular and specific pickup in the bridge. From what you further described IŽd stay clear of it here. If you were to get a baritone though at one point and get it from less mid heavy woods it could be fully your thing.

As with all these things no two pieces of timber are the same. My experience of black limba is that it can produce quite a dark mid range. Obviously body style and construction come into play, ie bolt on, set neck, neck thru etc however I'd be inclined to go with the Painkiller bridge for it's upper mid focus, defined high end and very controlled bottom end response.
