LP Guitar - Led Mastodon Sound
« on: January 10, 2016, 12:42:49 PM »
Hey there - gone forever but I need some BKP advice. I do have a Crawler set in my ebony board SG and love it, so I had to come back to BKP after years.

Planning on a custom LP, either classic woods or more towards late 70s Custom with maple neck and ebony board (most likely that one).

Soundwise huge Led Zeppelin fan but I'm a lot into Mastodon and newer hard rock/stoner rock influenced stuff some might consider metal as well as QOTSA fuzzy stuff (but I don't think pickups matter too much in such a heavy fuzzy sound). I know Mastodon do have some crazy Lace signature pickups but basically are vintage fans.

I do have a Kemper Powerrack so amp and drive-wise I'm not worried at all, tube wise (if I will ever go back) I do have a Soldano SLO 100.

So for now I'm looking for a good combination - first thoughts Stormy Monday neck Abraxas bridge? Or VHII neck, RiffRaff bridge?

I don't need a mushy neck, I actually love the sound of the mini hum in this video:

I can still fatten things up elsewhere (or turn down the tone knob).

So folks, there might be the possibility of me being completely retarded, so please be gentle and tell me if I'm mistaken with my choices?

Cheers
