prs se tremonti custom, new pick ups needed
« on: January 11, 2016, 05:44:50 PM »
hi guys, i was gonna change out the pick ups on this guitar last year, but health issues stopped that, now better , im gonna swap out the pups, this year what im thinking of is a very versatile set, that can do either metallica to gary moore ish, i was thinking rebel yell in the bridge, and either the mule or emerald neck, or would it be better to have the abraxas bridge and mule neck, any other suggestions would be most welcome, cheers steve

Crawler or Abraxas with a Abraxas- or Mule-neck, would make it versatile. How bright/dark is the Tremonti?
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

If you want to really get into that saturated drive of Metallica then I'd go up to a Holydiver bridge then balance that out with an Emerald neck for some smooth, fat sustaining neck tone. This combo is surprisingly versatile, one I use quite a lot myself and recommend a lot to customers looking for all round versatility.

after thinking about it, and hearing some sound clips, im leaning towards the abraxas bridge, and the mule neck, i can always dial in more gain with my multi fx unit, and i like playing blues aswell, and gary moore parisiene walkways, or even the abraxas bridge with the pg blues for the neck, as i only play small ammounts of heavy stuff. love the sound clip of the pg blues set, but i think i would need a beefier bridge pup, for the versatility, thats why im thinking abraxas bridge and either the mule or pg blues for the neck, any ideas on this combination guys ? as im getting older im leaning more too the bluesy side of music, cheers steve

I have the Abraxas set in my PRS SE Bernie Marsden. Absolutely great pickups and the Abraxas neck is equally as wonderful as the bridge. For classic blues sounds I can't imagine anything better. They're a set for a reason so personally that's what I'd go for.
PRS Bernie Marsden Abraxas set
PRS S2 Singlecut RY's
JV Strat  IT Bridge
Gibson SG JB bridge
Fender Mex Tele Thinline TV Jones Classics
Fender Bassbreaker 15
Yamaha THR 100 Dual
Quilter Aviator Cub
