HELP: Pickup Dilemma for Mahogany Tele
« on: March 04, 2016, 05:48:24 PM »
Hey all,

I've decided to build my first Tele. Very excited! Just ordered a beautiful Warmoth tele body with a mahogany body and figured walnut top. Now I've gotta look for pickups for her. I've currently got a G&L ASAT with the soapbar pickups, and I love that sound (though I realize it's not a traditional Tele sound). My other guitars are a Strat an Gibson types. In the Gibson types I've got Duncan Pearly Gates, JBs, and '59 sets. So I like a nice, full tone to the my guitars.

Been checking out Bare Knuckle Pickups vintage winds, and am debating between the Blackguard Flat '52 and Blackguard Staggered '55 for the mahogany Tele. Both sound great, but I want the pickups to sound nice and full, without sounding too muddy, ice-picky, or tinny. Would love a nice, full neck pickup for blues, and some nasty grit and snarl in the bridge pickup without being too treble heavy.

Tim suggested the '55 Staggered, and I trust his opinion. But I just want to see what the community has to say. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
