My new favourite mic for tracking guitars

Been using the Worker Bee from Neat microphones on all my recordings for the past few weeks. Man, I am in love with this mic -- dead quiet, crazy dynamic range, and super responsive. Highly recommended.

Recorded this song last week and just finished the mix; all guitars and vocals were recorded using the Worker Bee.

Yeah, the performance of price:dollar is insane.

I typically dislike capacitor mic's on electric guitar, but this mic just sounds stellar on it.

I think it has a quieter noise floor than even the Blue mics ... it's essentially noiseless in terms of self-noise. The frequency response isn't has ruler-flat as most Blue mics -- it has a small dip in the midrange.

Cool. Might look into it more when I have my PC back and actually have a way to record!

I really like the Shure SM57 & sE X1R covers a lot from Clean to Distortion............

That is a great combo. I am not a fan of multi mic'ing electric guitar, but I certainly love hearing others' efforts. :)

Recording Rock tones I find the "good old" SM57 hard to beat, and for clean tones the Ribbon sounds really nice. Then there are times using both "Dynamic & Ribbon" give more frequencies to choose from. Many pro studio's will use a number of mic's, guitarists like George Lynch or Steve Vai will have around 16 microphones with various speaker cabinets (I might not need that many in my home studio)
