Covers?

Alright guys... Time to talk me into which cover to get!
I'm buying a MiracleMan calibrated set for a custom guitar a luthier is gonna build for me...

It will be a ESP Horizon shaped body, deep see-thru-blue with chrome hardware, ebony fretboard and ebony pickup-rings.

I'm thinking chrome covers with allen bolts, and also engraved? Any thoughts?
Or will it look sleeker without the engraving?

Tell me what to get!

Yeah, I've checked them out too...
I agree they would be pretty cool looking with that blue shade that appears on them. I'm not as sure about the red strokes in them though? Is it possible to choose how the burning will appear? That is, more of the blue, none of the red/orange?

nah i think jonesy is right- they probably cant really determine how they turn out..

but i should think they could get MORE of the blue.... but part from that i dunno

If you don't burn them too hot, you should get something with more blue and yellow. Like a chrome exhaust pipe on a motorbike.

Yeah, it would be great to just have a slight burn on them so there's just a hint of the blue color in them...

I was thinking that gun blue would be a good finish, perhaps a future option.

In ye olde days before the very black you see on modern firearms the metal parts where treated to prevent corrosion and stop light reflecting from the metal parts, this was referred to as bluing because it had a bluish cast to the colour.

Some finishes are blacker than others. Shotguns with Damascus barrels have a wonderful grain effect under the bluing.

Or the centre shotgun in this image http://www.gunshop.com/francotte/fran3.jpg is a good example

It's just a real pretty colour and it's tough too.

Just perfect for a pickup cover.

I was thinking of getting burnt chrome covers but then decided against it. The guitar the pickups will be going into has gold hardware and has a see-thru amber maple quilt-top. I don't even know if I should go for covers because I feel like (at least with my JB/Jazz set) that they sacrifice power and bite for reduced highs and smoother mids and bass. But, I don't know. Maybe a set of NB's would still have a lot of bite with covers.
