Paint Repair
« on: April 05, 2016, 05:48:25 PM »
Hey guys! So I am getting a used KM7 in about a week that has the C-Pig set in it. They have black covers with black poles, but one of the pickups has a small chip in the finish. I know this will drive me a little crazy so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on how to cover up the chip. I have attached an image to show the chip. Thanks!

unfortunately I think this is very common with BKP's black covers - my friend especially told me to NOT get it before I ordered my first set because it's not so durable. The good thing, however, is that BKP offers to take off your cover for free if you send them the pickups - this way you wouldn't void your warranty. Hope this helps.

Well that is upsetting. I really like the covers so I guess I will just live with it. Thanks for the help.

I bought a used Juggernaut recently which had quite a few chips in the paint (it's the same style of cover as yours). I gave it a light rub down all over, put some little plasticine blobs over the pole pieces to mask them, and sprayed it with grey primer and then black gloss (just from spray cans). It looks good as new now! So it can be done but you'll have to take it out of the guitar to do it!

Having said that, with a little chip like the one in your picture, I'd be tempted just to colour it in with a black sharpie or something!

We now powder bake the black onto the covers which gives them a much more durable finish (we tested this by throwing one around) and we could not get it to chip. We do offer a cover changing service if you'd be interested?

If you would like to get all the details for cover changes please email into sales@bareknucklepickups.co.uk and we can get all the details sent over to you.
