Finally found my pickups for a PRS Tremonti Sig
« on: April 10, 2016, 10:37:43 PM »
Hey all! I wanted to share what I found after trying several options. I have never been a huge fan of the Tremonti Signature pickups. I have thought that they are a bit fizzy and woofy and a little "loose". Just me, maybe. Anyway. I have tried a ton of replacements with varying degrees of success, mostly from Dimarzio, SD, EMG, etc., but this AM I stumbled on what might be the perfect set for this guitar.

I had a set of raw nickel covered BKP Alnico Nailbombs in the box from another project and though I would try them out in this guitar. Holy mother of Jeebus, these are what I have been looking for! They are tonally still within the PRS realm which is what I wanted, but got rid of every issue I had with the stock pickups. They are tight, articulate and still have that juiciness that I like. AMAZING. If you're ever looking to try something else in a similar guitar, give these a go. These work very well for rock, metal, and cleans. I started out with standard tuning, down to drop D, then to C# standard with 12-60 NYXLs. They handled everything I threw at them with ease. I'll be buying a few more sets now for sure.

Thanks again, Tim and all the BKP guys!

Eric
