New owner of BKP's
« on: July 25, 2016, 10:42:47 PM »
Hello all,

Just thought I would check in following my recent purchase of my first two sets of BKP's.

Spoke to Ben at BKP for advice on my selection, top man with plenty of knowledge and time for me on the phone.

So I have a 2015 PRS custom 22, originally fitted with PRS 59/09

PRS SC245 originally filed with PRS 58/15

Both now sporting calibrated sets of Rebel Yells, and man what a difference!

The CU22 still has the original PRS switching, but with a BKP .22K cap from BKP, and the treble bleed removed.

The SC245 has BKP vol pots, push/pull tone pots for coil tap, and BKP caps .15 Neil, .22 bridge.

CU22 are uncovered, SC245 covered.

I must say this whole experience has been awesome, so glad I went with these guys and took Bens advice, in my head i was convinced I wanted Holy Divers but after talking to Ben about my needs and music style he was adamant Rebel Yells were the way to go.

I play in a covers band and need many different tones, but these guitars, combined with the pickups and my Axe FX give me everything I need.

Gigged on Saturday and got plenty of compliments on my tone, so well chuffed,

Apologies for the long first post, buy just wanted to share my joy.

Cheers

Nice report! Glad it's working out for ya.

Do they sound different even though they have similar pick ups?

It's pretty much the same tone woods right? Only difference being one is a single cut and the other a double cut?

Welcome mate!

Glad to hear we found another BKP and RY fan. Beauts they are.

Remember that with those, in particular, a lot of fine tuning can be done just by adjusting the height. Half a screw turn can make a noticeable difference. What I am saying is that they are more versatile than you might realize yet! =)

And if you think that is a long post this really is your first post here. xD

The rebel yell is one of my all time favorite pickups sets, sounds like one hell of a stable you've got there

Thanks guys, they do actually sound slightly different in both guitars.

The SC is fixed bridge, the pick-ups are covered, and its slightly thicker than the custom. Also weighs a bit more.

The Custom is tremolo with open pick-ups.

As for fine tuning the pick-up height, still think I need a bit of that, just need time to sit and play with them a bit more.

I may yet rewire the Custom with some different options using the super switch. The neck pick-up has the magnet flipped to retain the PRS style, but I know I can have plenty more options with the super switch. Will keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers
