HSS or either SSS for Alcatrazz period Yngwie

Been debating tone for a while and was originally going to go for a Les Paul. But been listening to a lot of pre 85 Yngwie and I love his tone on the Alcatrazz record, especially the Live one. I'm looking for a set that can achieve this...

What I will add is that YES, people will say the Trilogy Suites by default, but I'm being a bit more specific than that. Back then, Yngwie had a very bright, wood, and exceptionally clean tone. I'm after a set of pickups that can provide that, whilst keeping clarity under a boosted vintage Marshall.  I want all raw, in your face, vintage Yngwie tone. I think anyone who knows Yngwie well will know exactly what I mean by the Alcatrazz period tone.

NOTE: The HSS option is just incase I can only find a Strat I like with that format. But would consider an HSP90 as I really like single coil's clarity

I don't think HSS will cut it. You need that single coil bridge tone for the rhythm parts.

I listen to a lot of Yngwie and by far my favourite is the Alcatraz era.

I think you can use nearly any single coil to achieve it, since most of the tone is from his vibrato and playing technique. The right booster is important to make the bridge sound suitable for metal. It should be fat sounding, with a tiny bit of fuzz. The DOD, MXR Dist+ or a treble booster all work well.

Realistically though, you are better to use single coils with a bit of poke to them. You need the extra output, compression and a bit of girth. I wouldn't recommend The Sinner for that, they are too fat sounding. Trilogies are ideal frankly. Slow Hands with a maple board strat will be fine. Also I've had a decent violin tone from Irish Tours.

Also Yngwie used a solid state amp for a lot of the rhythm parts in Alcatrazz. I think you can easily hear it on the recorded versions.

Good recommendation. I was inclined to say a set of Trilogies.
