Yardbird neck or Nocaster neck PU dilemma
« on: August 20, 2016, 08:55:03 PM »
Hi there,

I had a set of Fender CS Nocaster 51 reissue pickups in my tele, and have recently picked up a set of BK Yardbirds. I wasn't that happy with the Nocaster bridge, too harsh is the best way to describe it, even rolling the tone back didn't garner great results, to my ears. But...the Nocaster neck is a peach, lovely tone, chime, etc.

So, i want to keep the Nocaster neck and put the Yardbird in the bridge. Has anyone tried this or know if mixing these pickups will match ok?

Trouble is, is that my soldering skills are non existent, so can't try out the differences just sitting at home swapping them in and out. I will be getting a tech to put the new pickups in, he's doing a set-up, as well as a few other things.

Yardbird in the bridge and nocaster in the neck? Or just put the Yardbird full set in?

Cheers

They should work together, but the Yardbird set has a really nice Tele neck pickup too.  What is it you like about the Nocaster neck?
So many pickups, so little time
