I saw a Tele like that once. Wasn't pink but normal tiger fur. Very cuddly guitar. Just don't demon-lick that thing or you'll caugh up a hairball.

Supprisingly its not easy to glue it down. It has to be done in stages.

hello, that is cool. Can you give us a little walkthrough of the process so that we could try and do it ourselves?

Its a case of sand back the finnish, you dont need to go back to bare wood. You looking to scuff the surface so the PVA glue has a "tooth" to bite to. ie any glue wont stick very well to a highly polished surface.

Just use a something like a p120 or finer grade paper on an electric sander. preferrably a "dual action" or "random orbit " sander ( 2 names for the same thing)

I used one piece of material for th top and then waited till the next day for it to dry. Hold it tight and turn the body face down putting something heavy on top to keep weight on it. The piece of material used should be quite big, basically its going to be twice as big as you need it to be. This will give you enough excess material to grab/stretch/manipulate the matwerial when you move on to the sides.

Wrap the sides next. You'll have to do this in stages the strat body has so many curves it requires a bit by bit approach. I did the lower curve (the bit that rests on your lapwhen playing) and the upper curve first.

Simply apply the glue to the wood wrap the material around and tie the material in a big knot. This will hold tension on the sides. Again face down leave the glue to dry till the next day. Heres the tricky bit. the material is not that stretchy and will want to pull away from the wood at the low points of the curves.

Prepare yourself first by gettin some round fairly heavy containers. I used a little fuel tin i keep my fuel for my lawn mower in and also the actual glue container. Jam these in the "valley" of the curve and this will hold the material in place till the glue dries.

This is basically where I'm up to. Ill let you know how I go with the rest.

I kind of understand, but my idea by just thinking about it, was that I would take a big piece of material, and just do the top surface of the guitar, glued, and then do the back, once the top and back are both done, then 1 piece all the way around the side, so, basically, 3 pieces. No?

Hm. I have a strat I've yet to finish upstairs, now I'm really considering doing this.
