Which Bare Knuckle pu's for an octave down?
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:06:36 AM »
I have an Ernie Ball Silhouette 30" baritone tuned an octave down from the standard 6 string tuning. As in the low E is the same as the low E on a standard 4-string bass. I feel the stock DiMarzio pu's are inadequate, and am looking to replace them with something more suitable. Mainly looking for tightness in the bass. I am pretty set on Bare Knuckle pu's - just need to decide which model to go with. At the moment I am planning on Blackhawks but recently I have read they are not the tightest pu's in the BKP lineup. Some say that Aftermaths are tighter. So... which ones would you recommend: Blackhawks? Aftermaths? Warpigs? Painkillers? Something else?

Playing mainly through a Bogner Uber Rev Green and a Diezel VH4 into a mix of cabs with v30's, Anniversaries, Neo G12's, Alnico Golds, etc.

I probably wouldn't go with Warpigs.

Besides the ones you've mentioned others worth considering would be the Rebel Yell, Emerald, Impulse, and Cold Sweat.
