Soapbar/Dogear P-90 Covers?
« on: April 04, 2006, 11:48:41 PM »
Hi,

Just a quick question really. the opportunity has arisen for me to obtain some cheap Soapbar P-90's. I have a MIK Epi Casino and I'm looking to replace the pickups....Would I be able to use the Epi's dogear covers in place of the soapbar? Are they interchangable?.

Thanks,
Ebsy.

The soapbar pickups don't have the lugs that the dogear's have on the baseplate.  They have screws between the A&D and G&B.  The are designed for solidbody mounting, and you might find that they fall through the holes into the guitar!
So many pickups, so little time

Thanks very much for the replies,

I decided not to go with the soapbars. Instead, I'm sending the pickups to bareknuckle for a rewind/magnet change/potting. I figured this would be the absolute best option for the guitar :)

38thBeatle, I got the casino for the very same reasons you wan't one too ;) I'm also in the UK, and I decided that rather than get ripped off for a £550 casino, I bought it brand new from www.thomann.de for the bargain deal of £400 (plus seven quid postage) can't complain eh?.

I recorded some sound clips the other night using the stock pickups and I'm planning on recording some more after the rewind (they're just for my own personal curiousity really, but if anyone's interested I'll post them here too)

Thanks again.

Great stuff, I look forward to hearing your thoughts after the rewind and the clips themselves if you get the chance. Thanks for that link too- can't treat myself right now but who knows for the future.
