PG Blues Thoughts
« on: January 27, 2017, 05:24:40 PM »
I recently was able to purchase a set of Bare Knuckle PG Blues for a great price (less than $150.) and I'd like to get some of your thoughts on them. I like Peter Green and I love his OOP tone but I don't want to only be able to do that.

How versatile are these pickups? How do they handle classic rock tones like Clapton (Beano, early Cream), Page (Led Zep II) or Duane Allman? Any information would be appreciated.
Equipment:
-2015 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Japan LTD Cherry Sunburst
-2006 Fender Stratocaster Custom Artwork by Gabriel Bocanegra
-2010 Martin & Co 00X1AE
-Custom Built Marshall JTM45 2x12 Combo

Not much I can contribute on a personal level because I've never used them but I'd guess the bridge especially isn't a million miles removed from a Stormy Monday. I've never used AII magnets in bridge pickups at all but I do own two guitars with AII neck pickups and they offer a fantastic tone. Actually, AII is now my 'go to' magnet of choice for neck humbuckers, though I'd also consider AIV. As for what a set of PG Blues can do in terms of variety, Gary Moore seemed to get a hell of a lot of mileage out of them so they can't be that limited, though I admit I'm talking about a very special guitarist.
