The guitar in question is my Sabre Syren 7. Swamp ash body, wenge neck with thin maple fillets & a maple fretboard. To put it plainly, this is the darkest guitar (acoustically) I own & am having a tough time pairing it with an ideal set of BKP's. I believe the wenge neck has a lot to do with it's acoustic tone. The guitar is a metal workhorse, tuned to drop Ab with a 68 gauge 7th string on a 25.5" scale.
I originally installed a set of Juggernauts, which were honestly probably the worst pickup for this guitar. They boost the same frequency range this guitar naturally has a ton of, so it was a flubby mess. Currently, I have a set of Painkillers installed. These are MUCH better, but the definition of the low 7 still isn't quite there for me. The PK bridge has more low-end grunt than I'd expected & it's getting in the way the same way the Juggernaut did.
So, the next pickup set i'm looking at are the Black Hawks w/ ceramic bridge option. I'd love to hear any other suggestions you may have!
