Doom/Stoner Neck Pickup Ideas
« on: July 13, 2017, 04:05:41 AM »
Hi guys, I play guitar for a metal band that is equal parts progressive sludge and stoner/doom. My go-to guitar, a PRS SE Single Cut, currently has a Holy Diver in the bridge which is great for the proggier modern sludge riffs but I’m looking for a neck pickup that can take me to that stoner/doom rhythm nirvana. Something than can go from Sabbath to Yob to Electric Wizard and that’ll play nice with my fuzz pedals, my Orange’s dirty channel, and sound nice with the holy diver in the bridge would be ideal. I know Warpigs are popular for stoner/doom but I've also had the VHII suggested and I’ve seen some other ideas floated around here as well. Any thoughts on what would best suit my needs? Thanks in advance!

I have a pair of A5 Warpigs in my SG that I use just for stoner/doom and the neck is absolutely amazing for rhythm work. I run it through an Electric head and I use both the amps fuzz/dirt, as well as an assortment of Black Arts pedals and it rips will all of the above. I can't recommend it enough!
