TBX tone pot with Mothers Milk, Supermassive and Nailbomb?
« on: August 08, 2017, 12:25:58 PM »
Hello! Just won some new BKPs on eBay to add to my tele (flat 50 bridge and 52 neck), so started thinking about rewiring possibilities. Was then thinking about tone pots and the possibility of the TBX. I figure if any guitar I own has enough twang then the tele is probably alright though. That got me thinking though about my other mahogany nitefly in my avatar that I pretty much never use the tone knob on. Currently that's got magic wiring so it's 250k loading with the MM, or MM and P90, and 500k for the rest of the Supermassive/Nailbomb sounds. The tone does some other random cap switching but I never really use it so have pondered more experiments in that area to make it more useful.

So this had me thinking, the TBX tone pot is no load at the centre detent. Sounds good. And then does the normal/more treble things the other down or up. I guess this'll work happily with my MM setting. What about with the 500k loading. Will it make it useless and I should wire the rest to bypass it and only use it when I have the SC in, or would it be kinda similar, or shifted up/down in frequency when used with the other pickups. Anyone tried one in an HSS or with other HB pickups? Could be an interesting experiment if I currently never really use tone and it's actually no load in the centre (unlike my current pretty redundant one)?

Thoughts?
