Help! The cap value for 2 hums/single volume/single tone
« on: September 03, 2017, 10:41:04 PM »
What are the conventional values for a 2 humbucker / single volume pot / single tone pot setup? Well, the pots from what I read should be in the 500 range. What about the cap? I am swapping EMG's for BKP Black Hawks and need to change the pots and the cap. No idea on which parts to buy. Thanks.

The conventional values would be

Volume pot: 500k audio
Tone pot: 500k audio
Tone cap: 0.022uf or microfarad (the equivalent to 22nf - nanofarad or 22000pf - picofarad, sometimes labelled as "223" with the "3" standing for three zeros, i.e. 223 = 22000pf).

There are no significant voltages inside an electric guitar so the voltage rating of the cap is not critical.
