Bare knuckle Equivalent
« on: September 13, 2017, 10:52:00 AM »
Hi All,

I am looking for a new bridge pickup for my SG

I absolutely love the sound of the Dimarzio BC-2 (http://www.dimarzio.com/node/2193) that I have in my strat, and am looking for something similar in humbucker form for my SG. What would be the closest match? Basically a Dimarzio Tone Zone in bareknuckle form

Many Thanks!

the neck (alnico) miracle man in the bridge position sounds somewhat similar to a regular humbucker sized tone zone
I'd probably pick a ceramic pig or the stockholm

The Tone Zone is kinda bassy and muddy, so my first opinion would have been the Warpig too.
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus

Some people swear by the Tone Zone. I've never got on with it at all on the occasions I've tried it.

What is it about the Tone Zone you like? The alnico warpig may be close - lots of mids and low end.

The better question is "What don't you like about a Tone Zone, that you would like to be improved?"

I always felt the crawler was the idealized tz. Tons of beef and smooth, compressed mids with no mud.
