Help me choosing pickups coil colours, aesthetic question.
« on: October 13, 2017, 09:03:48 PM »
Hi, I did it again and ordered another Telecaster from Warmoth. As I always wanted to have a plain white guitar, now it`s time for white Tele! I`m still waiting for parcel, but have no idea what pickup colors to choose. First of all this time I only want open coil pickups with burnt chrome screws, no covers at all.
I posted photos (from Warmoth website) of an actual body and neck that I ordered.
So I want to achieve plain, sleek look with a little bit of twist.
Body is completely white, neck is all canary (maple look) with black markers.

Although I havent decided that pickup to put yet, but I would like to discuss colours that would fit here (open coils only, no covers please). Only WHITE, BLACK, GREY colours to choose from. All humbuckers. Pickguard will be white pearl (so white again).

I thinking:

1. bridge WHITE/BLACK reversed zebra with burnt chrome screws   ... neck all WHITE with burn chrome screws
2. bridge all grey with burnt chrome screws   .... neck all WHITE with burn chrome screws
3. bridge grey/black  reversed zebra with burnt chrome screws    ...   neck all WHITE with burn chrome screws
4. bridge grey/black  reversed zebra with burnt chrome screws   ....    neck white/grey zebra with burnt chrome screws

thanks for suggestions.

If you are using a tele bridge pickup they only come in black, even the Cobra-T

If toy are using humbuckers, personally I think grey sounds horrible.  I would go for lime over grey!

I chose 2 humbuckers, Warmoth will rout it as 2 humbuckers.
Lime? Never thought about that... would not look odd?

Lime and black zebra.  Depends on whether you have any greenishness in your pickguard.

No, no green hues in the pickguard, it`s white pearl.

I decided on neck, all white with burnt chrome screws.

Just the bridge...
Neither all white in bridge nor all black for sure, all grey? all lime? black/lime, black/grey, black/white.

I want to achieve classy, sleek, and plain look with little twist but nothing over the top.
My reference point would be that tele below (I will only  have 2 humbuckers instead).

I would favour black-white zebra. The black will stand out, which keeps it kind of tele-esque.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I think that it will be the best idea. Black/white zebra and all white neck. Sorted.

Decided to put another Miracle Man in bridge (already have one, but absolutely love this pickup), but not sure about the neck. Curious about Ragnarok new neck model, but still not much info.

by the way it will be my last guitar... 4 will be plenty I suppose until another G.A.S moment :)
