BKP's replacement for Burst bucker Pros

Hi all,
I have a Les Paul standard with Burstbucker pros. They sound really good but, like all us guitar players, I'm always looking for something better. Have any of you guys swapped  out these for BKP's. If so what did you fit and did they make much difference? I'm into classic rock, early metal and blues mostly. I sold another type guitar fitted with VH2 in the bridge and a mule in the neck. I wished I'd swapped out the pickups before I sold it.. Too late now.

What you don't like about the Burstbuckers? If they are really good as you say, why swap them?

From your description I would recommend the Mules. If you wanted something a little darker with more natural gain to make it 'more metal' then the Black Dogs.

The BB Pro has a very asymmetric wind which is where it gets its brightness and openness from - I'm not sure but from memory,  aren't the riff raffs wound with equal winds on each coil? Mules, on the other hand, also have an asymmetric wind but use Alnico IV magnets instead of the BB Pro's A5, making them less harsh and more balanced than the BB Pros. My guess is that an A5 Mule would sound a lot like a BB Pro.

I back Chris Rowberry's recommendation: Mules, maybe Black Dogs, although they sound a little less PAF-ish.

if you liked the vhII and the bb pro, you'll probably love the riff raff
warmer and not as aggressive as the vhII, but middier and more lively
definitely more lively and clearer than the bb pro
