Abraxas for metal?
« on: December 25, 2017, 08:57:39 PM »
Hey,

I found a realatively cheap abraxas set locally. I'm wondering if it does metal (drop D) well and how tight it is. Also, 50mm spacing shouldn't be much of a problem for a super strat?

Member FdeSalvo (Frank..) posted some great Abraxas-clips, some of them direction metal. I would check them out.

The Abraxas is a sort of chameleon. It can do vintage stuff, but also metal-styles. Drop D won't be a problem with this pickup. If you're looking for extreme tight bottomend look elsewhere, but it's quite tight for what I describe as a hotrodded Mule.

I bet you don't hear the difference of 50mm spacing into a strat  (which should be 53mm). I would give it a try.

Thanks! I'll check the clips out. I was originally looking at black dog and VH2.
