« on: January 18, 2018, 07:03:08 PM »
What amp would you recomed to someone that plays metal and hard rock, stuff from SOAD, Arch Enemy, Metallica, Megadeth, Dethklok, AcDC Led Zeppeling and anythin in between.

My budget would be around $400 dollars

Thank you

I responded in your other thread. If you want a tubeamp for rehearsels and small gigs get the EVH 5150III 15 watt LBX.
But 15 watt tubes is way too loud for the bedroom. I would get a Boss Katana 50 which you can trim down to 0,5 watt. The Katana's sound quite mature for a solid state amp.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

True, forget about the lbx, get the 50 watter used, the evh 5153 is awesome at low volumes. My other one who works perfect at home is the Engl Ironball. You'll need to get both second hand with your budget.

Anything with high preamp gain should work fine.

Being a tube-addict I'm really impressed with the performance of the Katana-line. It has the dynamics of a tubeamp. Boss has done a great job at an entrylevel price.

If you are only going to be playing in your bedroom, I would recommend the Blackstar Fly 3, actually. Can get plenty loud, has decent gain and EQ, delay, headphone out, and an aux in.

I've been using an ENGL Ironball very happily for a long time now. Very flexible in terms of volume/sound, but unlike many practice amps it is a real proper tube amp that can be used for practicing/gigging as well.
It's high gain sound is quite thick, very Arch Enemy, less AC/DC.

Either a boss katana mini, blackstar ht1r, or something along those lines.
Nice and cheap, and will do the job for bedroom prac, leaving you some dosh for a big angery rig

Honestly, for bedroom playing, something valve in the 0.1w to 1w range is ideal. I used to use a 50w at home which worked perfectly workable, though it was a bit too much to be perfectly honest.
