Humbucker For A Strat
« on: February 09, 2018, 12:36:31 PM »
I have a US Strat Deluxe with the 5 way switch and 3 single coils fitted as standard. The pups are David Allen Voodoo Blues set. The bridge is hotter than normal, because it is usually thin sounding in Strats.

Was looking to fit a black coiled humbucker in the bridge to give it more juice, but I don't want it to sound like a completely different guitar when I select the bridge pup. I am thinking the Alnico II buckers, either the PG Blues or the Stormy Monday.

If you dont need a splitted bridgesound, those will do fine, if quite bright in a alder or ash strat, but apparently that's what you're looking for.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Thanks. I'm not looking for a split coil sound from it, Just a bit more juice than the single coil. I probably could tame the high end with the tone control
