BKP P-Bass - '58 vs '65 models

I'd love to hear what forum members and BKP staff think about these two models.

Which will have a powerful hard rock 'THUNK' ?

'58 Split Coil P - pure rock thunder. It's 'the' P bass tone. The '65 is much brighter by comparison and produces a very focused tone.

and a lovely set of BKP bass pickups has just arrived

it must be a couple of years since my last set of BKPs, these look just as solid and high quality as all my BKP guitar pickups.

In the past I've always come to conclusions too quickly with new pickups and written a long detailed and enthusiastic review which I later regretted a bit.

I will say though these are very very good pickups. There's loads of low end, but never muddy. Also they have the sensitivity in the top end of a good P-Bass. Finally I also like that each string is reproduced with a similar output and power. None of the strings are too quiet or with funny dead spots.

Good thing this reminded me of my bass. Solid PUs in there, but it has deserved the BKP treatment for too long. Now I have to brush up on the differences between the two Jazz Bass sets and see if I have enough left after updating my homebrew gear.
