How versatile is the bare knuckle aftermath bridge?
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:52:00 AM »
Been a while since i've posted here hope you're all well.

I'm look at getting a guitar that already comes with aftermaths but i've no experience with this particular set.  Actually that's a lie I have the aftermath neck and it's fanstastic but never had the bridge version.

It's obvious what their strong point is but how versatile are they?  Are they really only good for aggressive styles like djent, death, thrash or hardcore punk or can they lend themselves to a little classic rock or metal even if there may be pickups better suited to that?

Be interesting to hear any experiences.  Cheers!

I'm using mine for a NWOBHM sort of tone. I think it works really well, but it does have a modern twist too it. I don't think the attack is as aggressive as the Painkiller.

Funny because it's often said the painkiller and aftermath are closely relayed but I forgot that.

The painkiller is a great pickup I do own one but I wonder out of the painkiller and the aftermath which could do a closer APPROXIMATION of nuno bettencourt of john sykes tones i.e ceramic classic rock and beyond.

I have a painkiller and use it occasionally. It sounds very good, but that attack is often too much for me.

I recently recorded a punk song with the Aftermath and it fit in perfectly well.

For the more classic rock tone, I'd have to recommend the Cold Sweat. The cleans are wonderful on that pickup. But once you have even a little bit of gain on, the Aftermath will do the business just as well.
