Adjusting amp/pedal settings for lower output pickups?
« on: August 09, 2018, 01:13:02 PM »
Just wondered what everyone's experiences are with this? Do you find that you have to up your gain (or low mids, etc) a bit or not?

This is all about bridge pickups (off-topic - my favourite neck pup is the Stormy Monday - so much character!)

I've had loads of BKP's, love them! But they've always tended to be medium output or hotter (My main loves at the moment are Juggs and HD's, also like BD, EM, RY, PK, etc). I mainly play live in pop/rock/metal covers bands - I'm building a new guitar and am really tempted to get a Mule bridge pup, but I don't want to have to change all my gain sounds because it's much lower output than I normally use - Anyone had to do this, or is it not an issue?

Would love to hear some experiences  Thanks!
Bridge: (A)Pig, HD, Jugg, PK, (A)NB, Crawler, Aftermath, RY, Abraxas, Emerald, BD, VHII, RR, Cobra, Sinner, Trilogy, Stockholm, Supermassive.
Neck: IT, SM, CS, Trilogy, Emerald, Cobra, Blue note.

Lower output means you hit the preamp of the amp less hard. The question is if this is necessary when you have a serious highgain amp. I like low to mediumoutput > highgain amps best. High output pups > high output amps seems to me a little overkill, but each to his own preference.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
