My Ernie Ball that is LOL
Yep, got my MusicMan JP6 on Saturday.
Kinda hard to give much of a review at this time due to only having my Roland micro Pube amp till I come over to Ole Blighty.
However, the Jackson will not be missed. The neck is sublime. Just the right width (ala the Jackson Soloist), the body is supremely comfortable. The locking tuners keep the trem in tune VERY well (even though it is a unique "non-locking" trem). I changed the strings to some SIT (which store sent me to try, I have VERY acidic sweat and turn strings rusty in hours, so off came the EB strings). It took me 3 mins tops to re-string/tune the guitar and be back playing :)
The pickups, hmmm, as said, not got good amp so difficult to tell. The pups are very different, it's hard to explain. They are nothing like any have tried before (Les Paul, Jackson, Axis) and are just well, kinda 21st. century sounding. It's hard to explain but they are modern as opposed to vintage sounding. Also, very hard to truly tell about the Piezo sound but it is definately there. It creates a very different sound when blended with the magnetic pups. I really hav'nt put my chord into the "piezo stereo" output jack (for piezo only) as not had time/too much fun playing reg.
The neck is very fast (unfinished gun oiled birdseye maple, like my Axis) and so sweet to play. I think I need to treat the fretboard to some oil next string change as she is just a little 'dull", probably just due to sitting in case.
As to the case, mmmmmmmm, am sure it is a G&G. Beautiful case and def. worth the extra money (even if it did'nt come with the special edition colour I wanted anyway).
Basically, VERY content/happy with purchase.
I have discovered "Glenn Tipton's" solo work (ala Judas Priest) and have a song from "Baptizm of Fire" on heavy rotation called "Kill or be Killed", I LOVE his tone on this. Now, tone is so many things, pick, fingers, wood, neck, lead, amp etc. etc. etc.
BUT, if I was to say some BKP's right now, I reckon would have to guess Painkillers!!!!!!!! of course, these are still a near distant temptation right now, but when Tim unveils them, I think these may be the modern/thrashing/power/crushing pups this guitar deserves and my ears desire :)
